Kerming in Typography

In typography learning is the adjustment of spacing between two or more character to achieve a better looking result . The difference between tracking and Kerning is that kerning works with two characters whereas tracking works with an entire word.

Here is an example of good and bad kerning
The reason why the top word is improper kerning is because the "I" is not correctly placed in the word making the spacing s unbalanced. The reason why the bottom word is a correct example of kerning is because the "I" is in correct proportion aswell as the other letters making it a well balanced word and more pleasing to the eye of the audience.
